Volleyball Captures Region V Championship

Tuesday afternoon, the Wrangler Volleyball Team continued their impressive run with a straight set victory over Hill College in the NJCAA Region 5 Volleyball Championship.

"We played really well. Our offense was great but our defense is what stood out the most to me" said head coach Kristi Gray.  "We blocked well and we were picking up balls like crazy, nothing was hitting the floor. Savannah had 19 digs and Tessa had 12, those two carried us a long way in the back court."

The #2 ranked Wranglers left no doubt winning all three sets over #18 Hill College in dominating fashion 25-14, 25-16, and 25-16.  With the victory, Odessa punched their ticket to the NJCAA D1 National Tournament in West Plains, MO.  This will be the second consecutive year that the Wranglers will make the trip to the National Tournament.

"We are thrilled to go back to back to the National Tournament. I had a really good feeling going into yesterday's match with how we have been playing and where we are mentally. Sixteen is a number that we use every day in our program. I couldn't help but feel like yesterday was meant to be for us. It was our 16th win in a row, it solidified us as the 1st team of 16 that go to the National Tournament and we won the match in the 3rd set 25-16."

Odessa will now wait for the rest of the field for the National Tournament to be set.  The bracket for the 2021 NJCAA D1 Volleyball National Tournament will be released on Monday, April 5th at 4pm.  The Tournament will begin on Thursday, April 15th and conclude with the National Championship match on Saturday, April 17th

More information on the 2021 NJCAA D1 Volleyball National Tournament will be released at a later date.
