The Odessa College Softball team will open the 2022 NJCAA D1 Softball National Championship on Tuesday May 24th at 4pm CDT 2pm MST) against San Jacinto College.
Odessa College (52-5) is the number five seed in the tournament, while San Jacinto (42-14) is the twelve seed. This will be the second match up between the two teams this season. San Jac defeated Odessa 5-2 back on February 5th in the Island Invitational.
The Wranglers are making their second consecutive trip to the NJCAA D1 Softball National Championship under head coach Jeff Jackson. Last season, Odessa went 1-2 at the tournament in 2021. They lost to Seminole St (OK) 1-0, beat Central Alabama 6-5, and lost to Wallace St. (AL) 10-2. Odessa looks to build off last years' experience as nine players will make their second appearance in the tournament.
Should the Wranglers win their opening round game vs. San Jac, they would face the winner of #4 Seminole St (OK) vs. #13 Lake Land (IL) at 4pm CDT on Wednesday, May 25th.
The 2022 NJCAA D1 Softball Championship will take place in Yuma, AZ at the Pacific Avenue Athletic Complex May 24th through the 28th.
