Next Step is back and we're ready to get moving with YOU! Take your Next Step to better health in whichever way YOU choose!
Activity submission options include Step Counts OR Total Exercise Minutes, allowing YOU to choose the type of exercise YOU prefer!

The Challenge
Choose YOUR Challenge | Meet Your Daily Goals | Be Eligible to Win Prizes AND a 2026 Challenge T-Shirt!
All Participants who meet their Daily Activity Goal and log their Activity online at least 21 Days of the 28 Day Challenge will earn a 2026 Challenge T-Shirt!
Daily Goal Options
During Registration, participants will be asked to select their Current Activity Level (Sedentary, Moderate, or Active) and the type of Activity Submission preferred to complete the Next Step Challenge (Steps OR Total Exercise Minutes). Based on these selections, each participant will be provided a Daily Goal (Steps OR Minutes) to meet each day of the 28 Day Challenge.
- Daily Step Goals
- Sedentary - 3,500 Steps
- Moderate - 7,500 Steps
- Active - 14,000 Steps
- Daily Minutes Goals
- Sedentary - 30 Minutes
- Moderate - 45 Minutes
- Active - 60 Minutes
How to Earn the Challenge T-Shirt
Participants must meet their Daily Goal and log online in their Next Step Participant Account, their steps OR total minutes at least 21 days of the 28 Day Challenge to earn a 2026 Challenge T-Shirt! All entries must be logged by 11:59P of Monday, March 2nd.
Weekly Prize Drawings
To be eligible for the WEEKLY PRIZE DRAWINGS, participants must meet their Daily Goal and log their steps OR total minutes at least 5 days out of the 7 for the given week, Sunday thru Saturday. Activity entries must be submitted by each Monday night as the Prize Drawings will be held on Tuesday mornings.

Daily Activity Submissions
The use of a fitness tracker or steps counter to track steps/minutes is required. Estimated steps/minutes will not be accepted. The maximum steps allowed to log per day is 25,000 and the maximum minutes allowed to log per day is 180 minutes. Please be careful not to over exercise. Once an activity entry has been submitted, that entry CANNOT BE EDITED. Participants are encouraged to wait until the end of the day or the following day to submit their maximum number of steps or minutes. Please remember, estimated and/or anticipated activity are not accepted. One Challenge entry per participant.

Join us for a morning of fitness and fun at James Segrest Stadium!
Every 1st Saturday of the month, March - November
March 7th, April 11th (2nd Saturday due to Easter Holiday weekend), May 2nd, June 6th, July 11th (2nd Saturday due to July 4th Holiday weekend), August 1st, September 5th, October 3rd, November 7th

5th Annual Turkey Trot | 5K Run & 1.7K Walk
Join us at James Segrest Stadium at Odessa College for this fall's 5th Annual Turkey Trot! Everyone is invited to come get active and have some fun!
5th Annual Odessa College Turkey Trot 5K Run and 1.7K Walk
- Saturday, November 22nd
- Check-In Time Begins: 7:30AM
- Race Start Time: 5K Run at 8:15AM; 1.7K Walk at 8:30AM
- Medals awarded to the 1st 200 finishers
- Registration Fee: $25 | Registration includes entry to the 5K Run/1.7K Walk and a 2025 Turkey Trot shirt while supplies last.

Join us Saturday, November 22nd for our 5th annual Odessa College Turkey Trot, benefitting the Odessa College Wrangler Food Pantry! The Wrangler Food Pantry assists any Odessa College student having difficulties affording groceries or accessing sufficient food to eat every day.
Since its inception in 2019, the Wrangler Food Pantry has assisted over 1,683 households and over 5,254 individuals via community and campus donations, support from the West Texas Food Bank and the creation of 2 spectacular Atmos Energy Pantry Gardens and 1 orchard on the Odessa College campus. Your participation in our annual Turkey Trot has to-date, helped raise over 2,168.9 pounds of donations. This year, we’re aiming to raise funds for the Food Pantry as our Student Support Services team are able to utilize our donation dollars to their utmost potential and continue helping as many Wranglers as possible. Thank you in advance for supporting our students, our Wrangler Food Pantry and for getting active this Fall 2025!
Pets are not allowed in the James Segrest Stadium.

2025 Life in Balance Wellness Challenge
Make Yourself a Priority and Add Balance to Your Life!
Challenge Dates | November 9th - December 6th
Utilizing the 7 aspects of the Wellness Wheel, Life in Balance aims to help YOU learn how to make yourself a priority in your daily life by participating in a variety of wellness activities that can easily be incorporated into your daily routine.
The Challenge
- Earn Points by completing daily Wellness Activities (8 activities available each day; Each activity worth 1 point)
- Earn at least 35 points each week to be entered into a Weekly Prize Drawing!
- Participants can choose which activities they want to complete each day, if not all of them
- Top 10% Point Earners of all participants will be entered into a Challenge Drawing to win $250 VISA Gift Card
- Open to OC Students, Employees and Sports Center Members
- OC Students, Earn up to 50 DTS Points for Participating
- 10 DTS Points for Registering
- 10 Points for Each Week (4 Weeks) You Earn at Least 20 Wellness Activites Points

Fitness Boot Camps
Are you ready to make a change? Kick start a new fitness plan to keep you active and motivated!
Boot Camp includes a variety of full body workouts using functional fitness exercises, cardio excercises, group work, and more. Each class will be a little bit different. Different workouts, different locations, but always fun and challenging!
Pre and Post fitness assessments included. Must be at least 16 years to register.
Partner Discount is Back! Take advantage of a 50% on the 2nd Registration when 2 Participants register at the same time!

Fitness Monthly
Fitness Monthly is here with all new ways to GET ACTIVE and WIN with your OC Sports Center!
How Fitness Monthly Works:
- Attend at least 10 IN-PERSON OC Sports Center Fitness Classes (Group AND/OR Water Classes) per calendar month and you're automatically entered into our monthly prize drawing!
- Attend at least 2 total in-person classes of our featured Monthly Bonus Class(es) as part of your 10 in-person class minimum, and you'll earn a 2nd prize drawing entry for that month!
- Virtual Fitness Class attendance does not count towards 10 in-person class minimum.
How to Receive Attendance Credit:
- Members must sign in on the class sign-in sheet in order to receive credit for attending an OC Sports Center Fitness Class.
- Members that do not sign in will not receive credit towards the 10 in-person class minimum needed to be entered into the monthly prize drawing.
TBD Monthly Bonus Class: HIIT
- Attend at least 2 total in-person OC Sports Center HIIT classes during the month of June as part of your 10 in-person class minimum, and you'll receive a 2nd entry into this monthly prize drawing!
