Wrangler Men advance to Elite Eight with 69-61 victory over Pearl River

The Odessa College men's basketball team secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the NJCAA Tournament with a 69-61 win over Pearl River (Miss.) Community College Wednesday night at the Hutchinson Sports Center.

With the win, the Wranglers (28-6) will face the No. 3 seed Vincennes (Ind.) at 8 p.m. Thursday night to earn a spot in the semfinals.

Odessa College led by as many as 22 points in the second half but had to hold off a Pearl River squad making its first ever appearance in the national tournament.

The Wildcats (26-4) were able to cut the lead to within six points but were unable to get any closer.

Anthony Johnson and Jawaun Daniels had 13 points each to lead the Wranglers offensively and Jalen Hawkins had 10.

LaGarious White led Pearl River with 17 points, including five made 3-pointers on the night. Brandon Rachal finished with 15 points for the Wildcats.
