Baseball Heads to Weatherford for Region 5 Tournament

Several of the nation’s top collegiate baseball teams and talent will converge on Weatherford College for the NJCAA Region V Tournament May 12-16 at Roger Williams Ballpark.

With artificial turf now on the Williams Ballpark playing surface, this is the first time WC has hosted the regional baseball tournament. Stuart Field hosted the Region V-North Softball Tournament last season.

WC (44-9) is a No. 1 seed and will play its first tournament game Friday at 1 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.

The five days will feature at least 14 games and will include nationally-ranked teams like No. 8 Weatherford College and No. 12 New Mexico Junior College, past national champions McLennan Community College and NMJC, and NJCAA leaders Midland College, Odessa College and Temple College. Depending on the final weekend of regular season play, past champion Ranger College, Hill College, Cisco College, Amarillo College and New Mexico Military Institute are in the running as well.

The top four teams from the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference and the top four from the Western Junior College Athletic Conference will participate in the double-elimination tournament. The champion will earn an automatic berth in the JUCO World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado.

All Region V Tournament games will be live-streamed on www.tsbnsports.com
