NJCAA Announces Academic Awards for 2020-21
Last week the NJCAA announced the 2020-21 All-Academic Teams and the 2020-21 Academic Teams of the Year awards.
Odessa College landed 41 student athletes on the All-Academic Teams and four teams were named Academic Teams of the Year.
- Nineteen Wranglers were named All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
- Six were named All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA
- Sixteen were named All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA
Student-athletes are eligible to earn academic honors by achieving an overall GPA of 3.60 or higher for the 2020-21 academic year.
2,336 student-athletes garnered NJCAA All-Academic First Team honors after achieving a 4.0 GPA. 2,640 student-athletes were named to the NJCAA All-Academic Second Team while 3,297 student-athletes received third team recognition.
Teams are awarded Academic Teams of the Year by achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. The Wrangler Volleyball team had the highest GPA in the department with a 3.64, Men's Golf had a 3.50, followed by Softball with at 3.49, and Baseball with at 3.21 team GPA.
