Wrangler Spotlight - Cross Country's Jade Marin

Jade Marin, a second year student-athlete at Odessa College, has played an intricate role on the cross country team this year.  She currently participates in the 5k, and has done a tremendous job competing for our Wranglers.  We hope this interview will allow you to learn more about Jade Marin, and her accomplishments as a Wrangler.

Jade, an Odessa native, is a business major and plans to graduate this upcoming year.  Upon graduation, Jade hopes to attend the University of Texas San Antonio where she would like to study cosmetology.  Within the next ten years, Jade hopes to own her own salon.

Q: What is your greatest moment as an athlete?

Jade: "It was last year, when I finally reached my three mile goal of 21:30.  I was practicing for it all year, and my last race I finally did it!"

Q: Do you have any pre-game rituals?
Jade: "I pray before every event."

Q: Who is your favorite professional athlete and why?

Jade: "My favorite athlete is Lolo Jones because I am amazed at all the hard work she puts in.  She is my role model, and she is a beast when she competes."

Q: Why did you chose Odessa College, and what brought you here?

Jade: "I liked that it was close to home and it gave me an opportunity to play the sport I love, while also getting a high quality education."

After speaking with Head Coach Cate Walsh, she stated, "Jade has been a pleasure to work with on the cross country team.  She is a hard worker and a dedicated athlete.  She's been a good leader for our freshman girls this year, and I look forward to seeing her succeed beyond Odessa College."
