Main's RBI Single Pushes Wranglers past Northwest Florida 6-4

The Wrangler Softball team won their third straight game at the NJCAA D1 World Series on Thursday morning defeating Northwest Florida 6-4 to punch their ticket to the national semi-finals.

Northwest Florida opened the scoring early plating three runs in the top of the third. Odessa would cut into that lead on an RBI sac fly by Kawehi Ili that scored Ariel Gomez who tripled earlier in the inning.

The Wranglers would tie it in the bottom of the third when Ari Ybarra reached on a beautifully placed bunt single which brought Clarisa Zapata to the plate who tie it with a two-run homer to left center field to even the score at 3-3.

Odessa took their first lead of the game in the bottom of the fourth when Camryn Milley launched a solo homerun on the first pitch of inning to straight away centerfield that cleared the bleachers and the ballpark.

Northwest Florida would not go quietly as they tied the game in the fifth and evened the score at 4-4.

The bottom of the sixth inning proved to be the difference in the game. Morgan Dutton led off with a leadoff walk, Alana Duran would come on to run for Dutton. With two outs in the inning Coach Jackson would look to the bench to provide a spark.

A pinch hit two out double by Mia Perez would move runners to second and third and a two out, two RBI single by Presley Main that would score Duran and Kaya Lee would put the Wranglers ahead for good at 6-4.

Odessa got another solid performance in the circle by Rayna Cruickshanks and Emily Brouse. Cruickshanks threw five innings giving up five hits while striking out four before turning the ball over to Brouse who closed out the final two innings striking out three and not allowing a single hit.

The Wranglers advance to the national semi-finals where they will face Florida Southwestern at noon on Friday with a ticket to the national championship on the line.
