Scott's Walk-Off Takes Down Florida Southwestern 2-1

YUMA, AZ – The Wrangler Softball team defeated #1 seed Florida Southwestern 2-1 on Thursday morning to punch their ticket to the NJCAA D1 National Championship Semifinal. 

A walk-off two RBI single off the bat of Madi Scott in the bottom of the seventh scored Lauren Gonzales and Kawehi Ili giving the Wranglers a 2-1 victory and securing their spot in the semifinals on Friday against the winner of McLennan and Paris.

Aydenne Brown picked up her third consecutive victory of the tournament. Throwing a complete game allowing one run on two hits while striking out 7 FSW hitter.

FSW scored in the top of the seventh on a sac fly to take a 1-0 lead. The Wranglers countered in the bottom of the seventh with a pair of back-to-back hits from Gonzales and Ili. A sacrifice bunt from Morgan Dutton moved the runners to second and third with one out. On a 2-2 pitch, Scott sent a ground ball up the middle that was misplayed by the FSW centerfield allowing two Wranglers to score clinching the Odessa victory.

Odessa advances to the semifinals tomorrow at 2pm CDT where they will face the winner of McLennan and Paris with the winner advancing to the National Championship game.
