Wranglers Turn in Solid Performance at Texas Tech Rodeo

The Odessa College Wrangler Rodeo Team finished off the fall rodeo schedule in strong fashion this past weekend at the Texas Tech College Rodeo.

OC had eight cowboys and cowgirls qualify for the Finals and two Wranglers brought home a brand-new buckle. In the Men's overall team standings, OC finished third.

Luis Mendiaz and his TSU partner won the team roping event while Fernando Ruiz and Cowboy Porras finished second.

In the Bull Riding, Riggin Shippy won the event with an 81-point ride in the finals. Riley Shippy and Hudson Johnson who both qualified for the finals finished sixth and seventh.

Tate Kelly finished seventh in Saddle Bronc and Mackenzie Raaen finished seventh in the Breakaway Roping.

The Texas Tech rodeo is the final fall rodeo for the season. OC will now ride that momentum into the five rodeos scheduled for the spring. The first rodeo of the spring season will be the Odessa College Wrangler Rodeo scheduled for February 23-25 at the Ector County Coliseum.
