Wranglers Sending Three to CNFR this June

Wranglers Sending Three to CNFR this June

The final rodeo of the year is complete and the Odessa College Wranglers are sending three student-athletes to the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in Casper, Wyoming, June 14-20th.

Rylee Jo Dick capped off a great freshman season at the TSU rodeo.  Dick placed in both the barrel racing and the breakaway roping.  For the year, she earned the Reserve All-Around Championship (most total points in all events), placed third in the breakaway roping, and earned the Year-End Championship in the barrel racing.

Fellow freshman Chet Boren earned the Year-End Championship in the steer wrestling event.  Boren finished the season by placing in the steer wrestling at the TSU college rodeo.

Sophomore, Hawkins Boyce, rounds out the last of the Odessa College Wrangler CNFR Qualifiers.  Boyce finished second in the Year-End standings in the saddle bronc riding.  Boyce also placed at the TSU college rodeo in the steer wrestling.

The OC Women's team finished second at the TSU rodeo and third overall in the Year-End standings.  At the TSU rodeo, freshman Katelyn Badham turned in an impressive performance in the barrel racing.  Badham placed second in the first round, won the second round and the average.

The Wrangler Men's team finished the season in fourth place.  At the TSU rodeo there were several wranglers who did well, and their placings are listed below:

Koty Kamm placed second in the team roping with Coy Surrett (SPC)

Lon Danley and Lucas Falconer placed sixth in the team roping

Lon Danley placed eighth in the tie-down roping

Hank Filipinni placed ninth in the tie-down roping

Adam Lucero placed third in the bull riding

Congratulations to the OC Wrangler Rodeo team, for another impressive season – and to these three student-athletes who will be continuing on this June in Casper, WY.
