Maroy Earns NJCAA National Title & Wranglers take Fourth
The Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, KS is a difficult course - fitting for the almost 100 young men competing in the NJCAA D-I Men's National Golf Tournament. Odessa College was looking to bring home their ninth NJCAA title in program history. After four demanding rounds, the tournament concluded today - with one of the Wranglers bringing home a first place trophy; freshman, Vetle Maroy finished first individually.
Maroy and his teammates were impressive as always, but had a slightly rough start on day one not finishing within the top five. Day two was a different story though, with the Wranglers snagging a third place team finish. Day three the Wranglers dropped slightly to fourth, and despite an amazing final round on day four (being only +6) the Wranglers ended up finishing the tournament fourth in the country (+19). Indian Hills CC won the National Title (+10), McLennan College and Eastern Florida State finished tied for second (+13). The Odessa College team totals and five individual totals are listed below:
