Nevada's Van Thomas Set to Join Wranglers in Fall 2015

Odessa College is proud to announce the signing of World Ranked Amateur (110), Van Thomas of Las Vegas, Nevada. Van is a Senior at Arbor View High School and is one of the Top Rated Senior golfers in the state of Nevada.

When asked what it was about Odessa College that made him want to be a part of the Wrangler tradition, Thomas said, "the competitiveness of the golf team is way better than any other junior college, and the great track record of phenomenal golfers that have come out of the OC program is impressive." When visiting with Thomas about the new eight week courses that OC offers, he said, "it sounds like a good fit for me, to be able to just focus on 2 or 3 classes at a time."

Thomas has numerous accolades from his high school career, including a career highlight of being the 2014 Nevada State Champion. Thomas earned Nevada All-State recognition in 2012, 2013, and 2014. He has had nine American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Top 20 finishes, five U. S. Kids Top 20 finishes, and five Junior World appearances (where he finished 13th in 2010). In 2012 he was the Nevada State Jr. Champion, and has been the Southern Nevada Jr. Golf Association Tournament of Champions winner nine years in a row (2005 through 2013). He has a career low score of 64 (-8).

Head Coach, Paul Chavez, is "excited to add Van Thomas to the 2015-16 roster. He will bring an abundance of talent, skill, and experience to our lineup."
