Hawks Down Wranglers In Overtime

The Odessa College Wranglers finally ran out of magic Monday, falling 78-77 in overtime to Howard College in WJCAC action at Dorothy Garrett Coliseum.

Howard's Jeremy Hayes, who scored a game-high 27 points, hit one of two free throws with 4.5 seconds left as the Hawks (21-7 overall, 9-5 WJCAC) ended the No. 4 Wranglers' 14-game winning streak.

Odessa College (22-3, 12-1) missed a chance to clinch a share of the WJCAC title. The Wranglers, who have gone to overtime in three consecutive games, were led by Jermaine Haley with 22 points. L.J. Figueroa added 11 points and Braxton Shaw scored 10.

Howard used a 15-0 run in the second half to overcome an 11-point deficit. Amari McCray added 14 points for the Hawks, Derrick Green scored 11 and Jake Hutchings had 10 for the Hawks.
