5 Wranglers Selected To Texas-New Mexico All-star Game

Texas-New Mexico All-Star Game

This weekend, five baseball players from last year's WJCAC championship team will compete in the Texas-New Mexico All-Star game at Weatherford College.  The Wranglers selected to participate are RHP Shaston Johnson who appeared in 13 games and recorded 5 wins and 1 loss last season.  He pitched 47 innings and struck out 57 batters.  Catcher Mitch Holding was also selected and appeared in 58 games recording 79 hits with 18 of them being homeruns.  Holding achieved a batting average of .416 and had a slugging percentage of .800.  Outfielder Kyler Castillo appeared in 56 games, recorded 96 hits and knocked in 67 RBIs along with a .425 batting average was selected. Utility player, Tresten Kennard who appeared in 56 games and recorded 73 hits, 12 homeruns, 58 RBIs and a batting average of .397 was selected and outfielder, Wade Raburn who appeared in 58 games and logged 74 hits, 52 RBIs and a batting average of .402 will round out the all-star participants.

Because Odessa College won the Western Junior College Athletic Conference title last spring, the OC coaching staff will be leading the West squad.  Odessa College Head Coach, Kurtis Lay, will be the skipper of the West team with Assistant Coach Logan Parker assisting.

These five Wranglers representing Odessa College will play in two games over the weekend, competing for the Region 5 West team.  They will have a game on Friday, September 22nd at 7:30 PM against the Region 14 East team and will finish the weekend with an 11:00 AM game against the Region 14 South team.

Congratulations and good luck to these 5 athletes on a tremendous accomplishment and we are excited they will be representing Odessa College and the OC baseball program!
