Inside Athletics - Head Golf Coach Paul Chavez

In the world of junior college athletics, coaching turnover is a highly common occurrence.  As for the golf program at Odessa College, things are a little bit different.  Head Coach Paul Chavez has been the face of the OC golf program for over 20 years.

Chavez will enter his 23rd year as the Head Coach of the Wrangler Golf Program this fall and continues to run one of the most successful programs on the OC campus.  He has won three NJCAA Division 1 National Championships (2004, 2005, & 2017).  In addition to the success on the course, Coach Chaves has done a great job of sending the student-athletes to the four year level to continue their careers.

"Coach Chavez is the longest tenured member of the Odessa College athletic department" said Athletic Director Wayne Baker.  "During his time as the OC golf coach, Paul has established OC as a national force in the sport of men's golf.  I appreciate his local knowledge and his willingness to assist the department and mentor younger coaches."

He is a member of the NJCAA Hall of Fame, the WJCAC Hall of Fame and the Golf Coaches Association of America Hall of Fame.
