Figueroa named to the 2018 NJCAA First Team All-American Team

 

Congratulations to L.J. Figueroa on being named to the 2018 NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball First Team All-American Team.  Out of the ten selections for this prestigious award, L.J. was the only freshman in the nation to receive first team honors.  Figueroa helped OC to a 28-5 overall record a WJCAC Championship and a Sweet 16 appearance in the NJCAA National Tournament in Hutchinson, KS.

 

L.J. led the Wranglers in points (21.4), rebounds (5.5), three point field goal percentage (48.2) and three pointers made per game (3).  Figueroa becomes part of a historic group of Odessa College First Team All-Americans.  The Wranglers have had seven (7) total First Team All-Americans in the history of the College including Devin Davis (2016), Josh Gray (2014), Janavor Weatherspoon (2002), Moochie Norris (1994), Larry Johnson (1998 and 1999) and Craig Ehlo (1981).

 

Devin Davis just finished his collegiate career at the University of Houston.   Josh Gray finished his collegiate career at LSU and is currently under contract with the Phoenix Suns.  Janavor Weatherspoon finished his career at Oklahoma St. University.  Moochie Norris finished his collegiate career at the University of Auburn and was drafted in the 2nd round by the Milwaukee Bucks and he played 12 years in the NBA.  Larry Johnson finished his collegiate career at UNLV and was drafted #1 overall by the Charlotte Hornets and he played 11 years in the NBA.  Craig Hilo finished his collegiate career at Washington St. and was drafted by the Houston Rockets and he played 14 years in the NBA.
