South Plains College pulled away in the fourth quarter Monday and held on to defeat Odessa College 73-64 in WJCAC women's basketball action at the Texan Dome.

The lead changed hands 15 times and there were 15 ties before South Plains (22-1 overall, 7-0 conference) opened the fourth quarter with an 8-0 run. The Lady Texans scored the game's last five points to take a two-game lead as the WJCAC schedule reached the midway point.

Odessa College (15-5, 5-2) slipped into a three-way tie for second in the conference standings with New Mexico Junior College and Midland College, who played Monday at Hobbs, N.M.

The Lady Wranglers were led by Amanda Soderqvist with 18 points, all on 3-pointers. Wytalla Motta added 12 points off the bench, while Okako Adika and Julan McDonald each scored nine points. McDonald also grabbed a team-high six rebounds before fouling out in the final two minutes.

All of South Plains' scoring came from its starters, four of whom finished in double figures. Gabbie Green scored a game-high 22 points with Sarah Shematsi, who made six 3-pointers, adding 20. Keke Hunter had a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds, while Ruth Koang scored 10 points.

South Plains finished 20 of 23 on free throws, while Odessa College was 5 of 8 at the line.
