Coach Jeff Jackson hired as OC Wranglers head softball coach

 

ODESSA (July 3, 2017) – Odessa College announced today that Jeff Jackson, former head softball coach at Ranger College, has accepted the position as the new Odessa College head softball coach.

 

OC Athletic Director Wayne Baker stated that "Jeff has strong recruiting ties in Texas and focuses on recruiting good students, good people, and above all student athletes that want to play four years of softball. Eight of the (Ranger) graduating sophomores this year have signed with NCAA schools.  Coach Jackson is passionate about softball and is excited about this opportunity."

 

Originally from Pflugerville, Texas, Coach Jackson was a student athlete and assistant baseball coach at McMurry University. He has a Master's Degree in Sports Administration.

 

Since leaving McMurry, he first served as the assistant baseball coach at Ranger College, and then served for three years as the head softball coach. Under his leadership, Ranger qualified for post-season play the past two years. During the 2017 season, Ranger College was ranked as high as 12th in the NJCAA polls. In his three seasons as head coach, 15 student athletes transferred to 4-year schools to continue playing softball. He coached six 1st Team All-Region/All-Conference and nine 2nd Team All-Conference players while at Ranger. 

 

Coach Jackson's wife and their one-year-old daughter will move with him to Odessa this summer.
