Bio

Coach Aragon enters his fifth season as the Head Coach of the Odessa College Rodeo Team. 

Aragon comes to Odessa College with six years of coaching experience at Mesalands Community College in Tucumcari, New Mexico. Under Aragon, the Odessa College Rodeo Men’s Team finished 7^th in the nation in 2014, 30^th in the nation in 2015, 29^th in the nation in 2017. The Odessa College Women’s Team finished 19^th in 2015, and 30^th in 2016. Under Aragon’s direction the program has produced multiple Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifiers in recent years. 

Aragon has also helped guide the program to multiple National Intercollegiate Scholar All-Americans each year under his direction.  For the 2016-2017 Rodeo Season the Odessa college rodeo team had thirteen students recognized in the WJCAC for their academic success.

Coach Aragon was also named the Grand Canyon Region Coach-of-the-Year in 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 and the Southwest Region Coach of the year in 2016.  Aragon was also named the 2010 National Coach-of-the-Year.

Coach Aragon is originally from Kamiah, Idaho. Coach Aragon was a state champion team roper in high school in Idaho.  Aragon was also the 1998 Reserve National Champion Steer Wrestler whine competing in college.  Aragon has also been a PRCA member for 21 years earning numerous qualifications to the Turquoise Circuit Finals and a trip to the Ram National Circuit Finals.  Aragon also competed on the United States National Team competing internationally for two years. Coach Aragon has a Bachelor of Science Degree from New Mexico State University and a Master of Science Degree in Coaching from Ohio University.

C.J. Aragon is married to the former Tiffany Power of Yuma, Arizona, and the couple resides in Gardendale, Texas with their daughter Lauren.
