Wrangler Rodeo Men's Team Places Second at Texas Tech
The Odessa College Wrangler Rodeo Team had their strongest showing of the season this past weekend at the Texas Tech Rodeo in Lubbock, TX.
Odessa had ten, nine cowboys and one cowgirl, qualify for the short round on Saturday night.
Peyton Hawtin continued his consistency in the Steer Wrestling and placed fourth.
In the saddle bronc, Mitch French finished fourth and Ken Coleman placed fifth.
Emily Nelson placed sixth in the breakaway roping.
In the team roping, Newt Lemond and Cowboy Porras placed fourth.
Odessa had a great showing in the Bull Riding as four Wranglers qualified for the finals. Trinity Bear won the event with a 78.5 point ride in the finals. Jamie Underwood finished third, Riley Shippy finished 5th and Hayden Welsh finished seventh.
In the men's team standings, Odessa placed second with 335 points.
In the overall NIRA Southwest Region standings, Odessa currently sits in sixth place out of 17 teams through the first four rodeos of the fall season.
The Wranglers will finish off the fall rodeo schedule when the travel to Vernon, TX November 7th through the 9th.
