OC Rodeo Regular Season Wrap-Up

OC Rodeo Regular Season Wrap-Up

The Odessa College Wranglers wrapped up their regular season schedule in Stephenville, Texas this weekend at the Tarleton Stampede.  After the ten rodeo season the Odessa College Wrangler Rodeo Team will send three student athletes to compete at the College National Finals Rodeo in Casper, Wyoming June 9-17.

BoDell Jessen, a freshman from Altonah, Utah, earned the Southwest Region Reserve All-Around Championship.  Jessen scored points in the bareback riding, bull riding, steer wrestling and tie-down roping this year.  Jessen will compete in the bareback riding and bull riding at the College National Finals Rodeo.

Sophomore Austin Williams, from Marsing Idaho, will compete in the bareback riding at the College National Finals Rodeo. Williams dominated the competition at the Tarleton Stampede to punch his ticket to the finals.  Williams had a clean sweep in the bareback riding at Stephenville, winning both rounds and the average in the bareback riding.

Fellow sophomore Bradie Gray, from Hallsville, Australia, will compete in the bull riding at the 2017 CNFR.  Gray was unable to compete at the Tarleton Stampede Rodeo because of injuries he sustained at a PBR event.  Gray had already earned enough points at the previous nine rodeos to earn his spot at the College Finals Rodeo. Gray should be cleared to compete weeks before the CNFR.

The wranglers had several other strong performances at the Tarleton Stampede.  Freshman, Shelby Dines, of Marsing Idaho earned the breakaway championship.  Dines roped two calves in 5.5 seconds.  She also won the second round with a time of 2.6 seconds.
