Odessa Rodeo Team Claims Two Championships at Sul Ross
Alpine, Texas. The Odessa College Rodeo Team claimed two championships at the Sul Ross College Rodeo in Alpine, Texas, September 22-24. Freshman Brock Powell won the steer wrestling Championship and Sophomore Bradie Gray won the bull riding championship.
Powell turned in a time of 6.0 seconds in the first round of the steer wrestling to place sixth in the round. In the short round Powell picked up the pace and was 4.7 seconds to win the round. His two head total of 10.7 seconds was good enough to win the event championship.
Bradie Gray led the way in a strong showing from the Odessa College Rodeo Team bull riders. The Odessa College Rodeo Team qualified four bull riders to the top ten short round. Gray scored 75 points in the first round and then in the short round turned in a score of 80 points to win the round and the rodeo championship with a two score total of 155 points. Odessa College bull riders placed first, third, fourth and fifth at the Sul Ross Rodeo.
The Odessa College Rodeo Team heads to Vernon, Texas for the Vernon College Rodeo this weekend.
