2014-15 NIRA Scholar American Recipients

Walla Walla, WA - The National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association (NIRA) is pleased to announce the 2015 Scholar American recipients.   This award is basically the equivalent to the NJCAA Academic All-American Award.

The honor is bestowed on NIRA members who earned points during a 2014-2015 NIRA sanctioned rodeo, have been in college for more than one term, have earned at least a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, and have been nominated by their rodeo coach.

Odessa College had two student-athletes receive this award - Chet Boren and Brittany Cudworth.

Boren is a current sophomore at OC, and is originally from Vernal, Utah.  He will compete this year for the Wranglers in the tie down roping, team roping, and steer wrestling.  Cudeworth graduated from OC in the Spring 2015, and is currently attending North Dakota State.  While at OC, she competed in the goat tying, break away roping, and barrel racing.  Congratulations to these two outstanding student-athletes!
