Wrangler Golf Recap

The Odessa College Wrangler Golf Team returned from the 2019 NJCAA D1 Golf Championships with a couple of impressive honors.  The team finished tied for ninth place with Wallace State CC at +10 for the four round championship.  Central Alabama won the tournament at an impressive -36 under par.  Two Wrangler Golfers received awards during their time in Florida. 

Sophomore Bryce Waters was named NJCAA All-American for the second year in a row after posting a tournament score of two under par.  Sophomore Tripp Wallace was named the 2019 Jimmy Russell Student-Athlete of the Year Award Winner.  

The Russell Award goes to the outstanding sophomore NJCAA golfer who exemplifies academic excellence, good citizenship and outstanding play in men's golf over the course of his career.  The Jimmy Russell Award was created in honor of the Hall of Fame coach at Odessa College who was instrumental in starting the NJCAA National Golf Championship and won six national titles at Odessa.
