Wrangler Men advance to Region 5 Championship Game with victory over Collin College

The Odessa College Women and Men punched their ticket to the Region 5 Championship Game with victories on Friday in the Region 5 Semi-Finals.

On the Women's defeated South Plains College 72-63 on Friday afternoon to punch their ticket to their third consecutive Region 5 Championship. 

This was the second time in two-weeks that the #19 ranked Wranglers beat the #3 ranked Lady Texans. 

Kamryn Lemon led OC in scoring for the second consecutive day with 26 points on seven for 11 shooting from the field and 11 of 12 from the free-throw line. 

Amanda Soderqvist continued her hot shooting from behind the arc scoring 23 points, knocking down five three pointers and Julan McDonald scored in double figures with 12 points. 

The Wranglers will face New Mexico Junior College who defeated Midland College 58-54 in the other semi-final. 

The Region 5 Women's Championship Game is set for a 6:00pm tip on Saturday March 9th.  The winner of that game will punch their ticket to the NJCAA D1 Women's Basketball Championship March 18th through the 23rd in Lubbock, TX. 

On the Men's side, the Wranglers defeated Collin College 82-73 to advance to their fourth consecutive Region 5 Championship game.

James Reese led OC with 17 points; Jonas Parker had a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds and Jalen Hawkins scored in double figures with 13 points off the bench. 

The #7 ranked Wranglers will face the #9 ranked South Plains Texans who took down Ranger College 85-75 in the other Semi-Final at 8pm in the Region 5 Championship game, with a trip to Hutchinson, KS on the line. 

The NJCAA D1 Men's Basketball Championship is March 18th through the 23rd at the Hutchinson Sports Arena.
