Wranglers advance to Region 5 Semi-Finals with a 64-55 over McLennan

The Odessa College men's basketball team won its opening game of the Region V Tournament on Thursday, defeating McLennan Community College 64-55 at Moody Coliseum.

The Wranglers advance to play Collin County Community College at 5 p.m. Friday in the semifinals. The Cougars defeated New Mexico Junior College 63-60 in their quarterfinal game.

The Wranglers (26-5) led by as much as 18 points in the second half before the Highlanders (22-9) went on a 10-0 run to cut into the deficit.

McLennan got to within five points with less six minutes to go, but were unable to get any closer.

James Reese led Odessa College with 19 points while Anthony Johnson added 14 off the bench.

Xaiver Armstead had 14 points to lead the Highlanders.
