Baseball swept by Weatherford

The Odessa College baseball team suffered a pair of losses Sunday at Weatherford College, which completed a sweep of the weekend series.

Weatherford College won the opener 3-1 as Carlos Tavera pitched a complete-game four-hitter. The Wrangers (7-5) took the early lead when Kyler Castillo scored on a wild pitch in the first inning, but the Coyotes (10-3) answered in the bottom of the inning on an error and took the lead on London Greene's RBI single in the fourth. Weatherford's Ty Bowring added a sacrifice fly in the fifth.

In the second game, Weatherford College scored in every inning, ending the game in the fifth inning on Hunter Gieser's RBI single. Trevis Sundgren went the distance for the win. Cole Johnson doubled twice and drove in two runs to lead the Coyotes, while Gieser finished with two RBIs.

The Wranglers return to action at noon Wednesday with a doubleheader at Cisco College.
