Wranglers Bounce Back To Salvage Split With Hawks

The Odessa College Wranglers held on to salvage a split of the WJCAC baseball doubleheader with Howard College on Saturday at American Legion Park, losing the first game 9-4 before winning the second 10-9.

In the opener, Saul Garza high a grand slam to cap a nine-run fourth inning for the Hawks (27-16 overall, 19-7 WJCAC). Mitch Holding hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning for the Wranglers (25-20, 16-10) and Harry Fullerton had to RBIs.

In the nightcap, the Wranglers broke a 5-5 tie with five runs over the fourth, sixth and seventh innings, then survived Howard College's four-run eighth. Cal Pequeno 2 for 5 with a double and a home run for Odessa College, while Holding had a double and three RBIs. Tresten Kennard went 3 for 4. J.J. Irvin-Lundquist (2-3) struck out five in 5.1 innings of relief for the win.
