Softball opens 2019 season Friday & Saturday at Home

Your 2019 Odessa Softball Team will open the season at home on Friday, February 1st in a double-header against McLennan Community College.  First pitch of game one is scheduled for 1pm at the Odessa College Softball Complex.

"Friday will be good opportunity to finally get on the field in a game against a quality opponent in McLennan" said second year head coach Jeff Jackson.  "We will need to figure out who we are as a team and put all the things we have learned from the fall and spring into a game setting."

The Wranglers return three players off of last season's roster in sophomores, Cami Deanda, July Hernandez, and Rianna Salgado.  All three of them saw significant playing time as a freshman and will bring so much needed experience to a freshman heavy club.

"Having 12 freshman on the team, the learning curve will have to be quick as we will ask them to play in a variety of roles" said Jackson.

In the circle look for sophomore transfer Sierra Whipple and freshman Cori Turner to be handed the ball and leaned upon heavily to pitch most of the innings for OC.

Despite having a young club, Coach Jackson will look upon Illy Cisneros and Becca Duran to be early contributors in the field and at the plate as they will both find themselves in the top part of the Wrangler lineup.

OC will continue their home stand on Saturday, February 2nd as they host Temple College in a double-header scheduled for a noon start.  The Wranglers next home stand will be February 7th through the 9th as they co-host the Permian Basin Invitational.
