Wrangler Spotlight - Kamryn Lemon

Wrangler Spotlight - Kamryn Lemon

Sophomore Point Guard Kamryn Lemon is coming off an impressive weekend at the WNIT in Midland, TX.  Kamryn and the Wranglers captured their second WNIT Title in the past three years with a 61-51 victory over Midland College on Saturday.

The Wranglers picked up victories over two NJCAA top 25 ranked teams with a 63-39 victory over #19 Iowa Western and a 56-42 win over #17 Salt Lake Community College on their way to the Finals.

The Sumter, South Carolina native had an impressive weekend, scoring in double figures in all three games landing her the MVP of the Tournament.

Kamryn stopped by after practice to sit down and talk about her weekend and the 2018-19 season.

Q: Tell me your thoughts on the weekend and being named tournament MVP?

A: It was a good weekend, got a lot of help from my teammates being focused and keeping up the intensity.  We played as one (team)

Q: You are asked to play a variety of roles on the court.  What is your favorite?

A: I play where ever I am needed.  I like playing off the ball better, it allows me to see the court better and where my teammates are.

Q: Being a transfer (Highland CC), what is the biggest difference between this year and last year?

A: Highland is a really small town, this is a much better environment. There are actually things to do and places to eat besides a gas station.

Q: What are your plans after this year is over?

A: I want to go play at a Division I school.  I want the best education I can get and have the opportunity to play at the highest level possible.

Q: Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?

A: I always wear my lowlife band around my right ankle over my socks.  It has to show.

Q: Tell us more about yourself. Do you have any hidden talents?

A: I can dance.

Q: What do you like most about Odessa College?

A: I like that the school has a lot of activities for the students, the faculty is really involved and there is a lot of support from all over the school not just from the athletic department.

The Wrangler Women's basketball team will be back in action at home on Wednesday November 28th at 5:45pm as they take on Frank Phillips College in the first WJCAC game of the season.
