Wrangler Spotlight - Carly Evetts
Sophomore Middle Blocker Carly Evetts has been a big part of the on court early season success for the 10-4 Wrangler Volleyball Team. Through the first 14 matches she has racked up 103 kills and recorded 130.5 points. She is hitting at a .339 percent and is averaging just under 2.5 kills per set.
The Canyon Texas native is on pace to surpass her total points from last season. She took some time after practice to sit down and talk to us about her early success and her thought on the 2018 season.
Q: What are your thought on the season so far?
A: We have a great team connection, which is necessary for us to have a chance to win games.
Q: Who has had the biggest impact on you in your time here at Odessa College?
A: The other middles (Haley Thomas & Alexis Parrish) because they have the ability to push me each and every day.
Q: What has been the biggest difference from last season to this season?
A: We are very deep on offense, in the fact that we have a lot of good player on this team and we have to compete each and every day to earn our playing time.
Q: What are your plans after this year?
A: My goal is to get a scholarship to a Division I Volleyball program. I want to study Social Cognitive Neuroscience.
Q: Neuroscience? That's not a normal degree plan for most athletes. Why that field of study?
A: I'm fascinated with how the human brain works and the social interactions between people.
Q: Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions?
A: No, I am not superstitious at all. I trust the process.
Q: Tell us more about yourself. Do you have any hidden talents?
A: I am the youngest in my family, I have eight brothers and sisters, but I am the only one who has played any sports.

Carly and the rest of the Wrangler Volleyball team travel to Roswell New Mexico on Wednesday to take on New Mexico Military Institute. They well be back at home on Wednesday September 19th as they take on Frank Phillips College. First serve is set for 7pm.
