Bio

Kevin Schlegel enters his sixth year as the Assistant Athletic Director at Odessa College.

In his five years in Odessa, the Wranglers have seen tremendous success both on the field and in the classroom.  The Wranglers have made 17 appearances at the NJCAA National Championships, over 50 student-athletes have been named NJCAA All-American in their respective sports, and more than 200 student-athletes have been named to the WJCAA All-Conference and NJCAA All-Region teams. In the classroom over 750 student-athletes have been named to the WJCAC All-Academic teams with a 3.25 GPA or higher and more than 300 have been named NJCAA Academic All-American with a 3.60 GPA or higher. 

Kevin's primary duties include gameday operations for all Wrangler home sporting events. He serves as the athletic department Sports Information Director where he runs, updates, and maintains the Wrangler athletic department website www.wranglersports.com and all the social media sites for Wrangler Sports. He has been instrumental in coordinating with the local sports media to set up weekly press coverage and interviews for in-season sports throughout the year. 

During his first year in his new role at Odessa, Kevin was tasked with the redesign and launch of the Wrangler Athletics Website wranglersports.com.  He was instramental in the Athletic Departments partnership with BlueFrame Productions and Presto Sports which now live streams all home sporting events.  Fans now have the ability to watch Wrangler home games live online or go back and watch previous events as well.

He spent the 2017-18 school year as the Assistant Athletic Director at Garden City Community College in Garden City, KS. In his year at Garden City, Kevin was incharge of Gameday operations, promotions and athletic administration.  He launched the Salute-A-Soldier campaign, in which the Broncbuster Athletic Department honored members of the U.S. Military, active and retired, before home football, volleyball, and basketball games.  Kevin was also tasked with the redesign and launch of the athletic website gobroncbusters.com that launched in early May 2018.    

Schlegel arrived in Garden City after a three-year stint at Odessa College where he was an assistant baseball and softball coach.  In addition to his coaching duties, Kevin was an administrative assistant for the athletic department, running game day operations for all sporting events.  Kevin spent a year at Frank Phillips College and was the Director of Baseball Operations from 2011-2012 at his alma-mater Nicholls State. 

Schlegel is a former standout athlete at Putnam City North High School.  He was named one of the top five catchers in the state of Oklahoma by The Daily Oklahoman his senior season.  After taking home All-City and All-State honors, Kevin signed to play baseball at Northeast Texas Community College in 2006.  The following season, he played in the Texas/New Mexico Coaches All-Star Game.  Following his time at Northeast Texas, Kevin transferred to Nicholls State University, eventually earning his Bachelor's Degree in General Studies in 2010. In the Fall of 2022, he earned his Masters Degree in Sports Administration from Midwestern State University. 

Kevin is married to Rebecca Schlegel, the couple resides in Odessa with their three dogs Honey, Scout, and Cooper.
